The
Neighbourhood Toy Stores Association compiles a Summer Gold Star list of
products that offer outstanding play value for the dollar. In the arts and
crafts category the Brown Bag Kit and Raining Cats and Dogs Umbrella kit
received two thumbs up, while Geosafari's Field Explorer Kit and Young
Explorer Magnet Kit topped the science and nature grouping and in the
outdoor and active play classification, Super Swimmer Shark and Mermaid
Goggles set and Stomp Rockets snagged top honours. A complete list is

Keeping kids cool will be
a breeze when playing with water.
"Pool toys are big right now,"
says Jon Levy, founder of Mastermind Educational. "Skimmer Hockey by
Aquatoy throws like a frisbee, has a net to score in and skips and zings
across the water," adds Levy.
"For families heading up north to
the lake, take along an Aquadisc, a great toy for diving games. The
underwater flying disc has soft, flexible edging , travels up to 30 feet
underwater and will float up to the surface," adds Levy.
"Brio's
Panama Waterway system is a favourite for backyard play. The water canal
system teaches youngsters about locks and canals and has a working crane,
pump and two boats," says Levy.
